Message Upon a Fleeting Encounter

It was given to me to enjoy
only a small and passing taste
of your companionship along the way.
So I enjoyed it sublimely,
tasted it deliciously,
was thankful and was satisfied,
counting it as a blessing.

Tenacity Is Not A Place

What is tenacity in pursuit of futility?
What is tenacity in pursuit of adventure?
What is tenacity in pursuit of the unknown?
To know or to get there or to be on the path, or all of that?
At the beginning we cannot know that a pursuit is futile.
Is tenacity in pursuit of futility insanity?
Insanity in this sense may be unavoidable.
Or is futility a construct of will and rigidity,
holding us to a course and a sense of self?
When is it time to turn the wheel and try a different course?

"You can't always get what you want but if you try some time, you just might find, you get what you need." - Rolling Stones 1969

"I would remind you that extremism in the defense of liberty is no vice! And let me remind you also that moderation in the pursuit of justice is no virtue!" - Barry Goldwater 1964

"Have faith in God,” Jesus answered. “I tell you the truth, if anyone says to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart but believes that what he says will happen, it will be done for him. Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.” - Mark 11:22-24 (NIV)

Where is the Net?

I took a leap.
I have not yet
seen a net.
But I see I am learning to fly
with enough strength and finesse that I
will be able to land softly.

Limp, the body of Gorrister hung from the pink palette; unsupported—hanging high above us in the computer chamber; and it did not shiver in the chill, oily breeze that blew eternally through the main cavern. The body hung head down, attached to the underside of the palette by the sole of its right foot. It had been drained of blood through a precise incision made from ear to ear under the lantern jaw. There was no blood on the reflective surface of the metal floor.
When Gorrister joined our group ...

Wind Water Sand and Stars [DRAFT]

We are waves in the ocean, long and deep,
unseen until we arrive at
the shallow water of the shore,
and break. We are seen when breaking.

We are broken glass on the beach,
ground and tossed by the waves,
tumbled and polished by the wind,
until we are grains of sand.
We are the sand.

We are stars at night,
each a small point of brilliance,
to be seen among the billions
by someone looking
long enough in the right direction.
