We are waves in the ocean, long and deep,
unseen until we arrive at
the shallow water of the shore,
and break. We are seen when breaking.
We are broken glass on the beach,
ground and tossed by the waves,
tumbled and polished by the wind,
until we are grains of sand.
We are the sand.
We are stars at night,
each a small point of brilliance,
to be seen among the billions
by someone looking
long enough in the right direction.

Not satisfied with this yet. Provisional. Think it's better than first try.
HELPFUL COMMENT BY A FRIEND ON AUGUST 23: My first and spontaneous reaction would be considering the rhythm. The fact that you are talking about the elements would create the need to really refine the rhythm, in my sense, so we can feel those waves and the wind around and inside. Also, I find the end too abrupt. Lacks airiness and should leave us in a dream rather than faced with a logical observation. My humble opinion. But I truly love the concept. Very much worth pushing further. Thanks for sharing!
